Midsummer Night Market

I was thrilled to be invited to sell soap at Oregon Cider Week's Midsummer Night Market in June, but a little nervous (this was my first "real" market experience as prior to this, it was only work events).

It was organized by Reverend Nat's Hard Cider in honor of Cider Week and oh what FUN it was!

There was a photo booth, Rojo the Llama (and his friend, Napoleon the Alpaca), a dunk tank and hard cider slushies and, of course, an array of locally-crafted items being sold by vendors like myself.

The evening was perfect with a good number of happily-lubricated fair-goers browsing through our offerings.

In accordance to Optimistic Soap's goal of always giving back to the world, 20% of our sales that night was donated to the ACLU. As the event took place on the same day as the Families Belong Together rally in the North Park Blocks, this group, which has been working hard to reunite children with their parents, seemed to be a timely and deserving recipient.

The good Reverend Nat himself gave me a preview of the In Our America cans waiting to be filled with delicious cider that the NWGSD group has been working on in collaboration with Cascadia Cider. Nasty Women will be donating $1/4-pack sold to organizations that support the values on the flag. Sweet and refreshing!

They will be available at local stores around July 15 and on! Check out this map for a shop near you! (Portland only, for now)
